In times of extreme divisiveness it is often difficult to find common ground between ourselves and those with disparate opinions. The passion that drives us forward can sometimes prevent us from listening to others and creating new understanding. IJPC is disappointed to learn that Dylan Roof has just been sentenced to death for the shooting deaths of nine innocent members of the Emanuel AME church in Charleston, SC. While Dylan’s actions are indefensible and reprehensible, we hold to our belief that all human life is sacred without condition and that taking the life of one who has taken the life of others serves no purpose other than vengeful retribution.
