For effective discourse, listening ‒ deep listening ‒ is required. In times of fear and anxiety listening can again become an effective tool. That is why we are pleased to offer as our program: a workshop on listening as the ultimate act of justice.
Daniel Rudd: Calling a Church to Justice
St. Monica - St. George Parish Center 328 W McMillan Street, Cincinnati, OH, United StatesIn May of 1890, The Christian Solider, an African American newspaper, identified the Catholic journalist and activist Daniel Arthur Rudd as the “greatest negro Catholic in America.” Yet many Catholics today are unaware of Rudd's efforts to bring about positive social change during the early decades of the Jim Crow era. Dr. Gary Agee, Associate Professor of Church History at Anderson University will present a compelling look at the life and work of this visionary who found inspiration in his Catholic faith to fight for the principles of liberty and justice.

The event will provide a space for newly trained YES (Youth Educating Society) members to share their story about immigration. The event will be held at St. Monica – St. George (328 W. McMillan).
Racism and our Catholic Response
St. Monica - St. George Parish Center 328 W McMillan Street, Cincinnati, OH, United StatesJoin us as Brice Mickey, director of RAPP at the University of Cincinnati, and Deacon Royce Winters, Director of African American Catholic Ministries for the Archdiocese, lead us through an examination of race and what our Catholic response should be, if we are to be a church of the Gospel. Mr. Mickey's presentation is called "Diversity and Inclusion." Deacon Winters' presentation is called "Racism & Justice: Promoting Peace In Our Communities."
IJPC will provide trained facilitators for small group discussion.
