The workshop aims to identify concrete proposals to address police violence; to plan effective, joint strategies for promoting criminal justice reforms at state/local levels; and to share best practices for raising consciousness about racial justice issues.

    In May of 1890, The Christian Solider, an African American newspaper, identified the Catholic journalist and activist Daniel Arthur Rudd as the “greatest negro Catholic in America.” Yet many Catholics today are unaware of Rudd's efforts to bring about positive social change during the early decades of the Jim Crow era. Dr. Gary Agee, Associate Professor of Church History at Anderson University will present a compelling look at the life and work of this visionary who found inspiration in his Catholic faith to fight for the principles of liberty and justice.

    Our next large gathering for Rethinking Racism will be on June 19th where we will be educating about and exploring the theme of gentrification. We will start off with a viewing of the documentary Good White People. Kiki and Marcus, two students from Peaslee Neighborhood Center's Agents of Change, will share their struggle about holding onto their neighborhood assets and Jenn Arens will lead a simulation regarding affordable housing loss in Over-the-Rhine.
