Staying Nonviolent: Skills for Street Protests

November 11 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Get ready to stay calm under pressure!

This 2-hour webinar focuses on the inner discipline and practical skills to embody nonviolence at street protests. You’ll learn to remain centered and confident while navigating challenging situations like hecklers, counterprotesters, or tense moments in public action.

Through hands-on exercises, you’ll practice self-awareness, centering techniques, and verbal strategies designed specifically for activism and street-level engagement. Build your capacity to respond thoughtfully and safely while taking action for causes you care about.

You will learn:

  • To explore a range of responses to conflict and violence
  • To understand how emotions give us information about our needs
  • To practice deescalating tense situations using the CLARA method and the 5D’s of Bystander Intervention
  • To approach street protests in ways that increase safety
All activities are grounded in the Engaging Nonviolence Curriculum and include practical exercises you can use immediately.
