Six@Six: Is Justice Blind?: Race, Class, and Our Criminal Justice System

Danielle McDonald will discuss the history of race in the United States, how our conceptualization of race has impacted African Americans, and how it has shaped the criminal justice system. Specifically, she will discuss the War on Drugs, racial profiling, and the effect those have had on African Americans. Alternatives to the War on Drugs will be examined as well as how those approaches are being implemented in other countries. This lecture will leaving you thinking about justice and public policy and whether reform is warranted in America.
