During this year’s Annual Gathering, we will be joined by Dr. Marcus Mescher, associate professor of Christian ethics at Xavier University. Following the keynote address, we’re excited to host a panel discussion with leaders of the movements that are central to our work including Maryam Abidi, Harold D’Souza, and Sr. Alice Gerdeman.

IJPC 2022 Award Recipients
Mona Jenkins
IJPC 2022 Bob Maxwell Peace Builder Award
Mona is an educator and organizer who graduated from the University of Cincinnati where she studied Educational Foundations for Social Change. She actively works with community members to address neighborhood specific issues related to health, gender, housing, and education. In collaborating with leaders and individuals who reside in the neighborhoods, Mona seeks to build engagement, empowerment, and community sustainable solutions. She serves as the Director of Development and Operations for the Cincinnati Homeless Coalition, an advocacy agency whose goal is to eradicate homelessness. As the Cooperative Food Justice Coordinator for Co-op Cincy, Mona works with residents to address food insecurity within their neighborhoods through equitable, community-centered approaches. Mona is also the Co-Founder of Queen Mother’s Market Cooperative, a worker and community-owned grocery store that will be opening in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Walnut Hills in 2024. Mona is on the board of the Erica J. Holloman Foundation, Inc., an organization for the awareness of Triple Negative Breast Cancer, the Cincinnati Health Network (CHN), and the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio (COHHIO).
Louise Lawarre
IJPC 2022 Margaret Fuller Peace Award
Louise holds a Masters in Culture and Spirituality from Holy Names University in Oakland, CA. She worked with Imago for 10 years as the Earth Spirit Rising program coordinator. Louise has served as the executive director of GAPP (Greater Anderson Promotes Peace) since its founding in 1999, and is the program coordinator for the MLK Coalition. Louise has been part of IJPC since S. Louise Akers, SC was the Coordinator and the organization office was at St. Francis School. Beginning in 1999 she served on the IJPC Board of Directors for six years and as Board Chair for the majority of them. Since 2018 Louise has held a critical role in the development of the Rethinking Racism initiative, toolkit, and is one of the ‘tour guides’ for the Race and Racism in Cincinnati 3-part Docuseries.

IJPC 2022 Youth Justice Award
Hands Across Campus (HAC) focuses on fostering inclusion through leadership, education, engagement, and encounter. Through interactive meetings, open discussions, immersive experiences, and activities, students develop an understanding and respect for their own as well as other cultures and grow as compassionate leaders in the McNicholas community and beyond! Recently, HAC has organized cultural celebrations in our school, spearheaded hygiene and cereal collections to support our local community, participated in education and outreach programs through Imago, Mt. Washington Cemetery, the Ozaman Center, and Shantytown.
