Ohio House Bill 36: Nitrogen Gas Suffocation

Ohio House Bill 36 was introduced to establish nitrogen hypoxia as an execution method in Ohio. Legislators are attempting to use the word hypoxia as a way to sanitize the pain and violence of using nitrogen gas. We are calling it what it is – nitrogen gas suffocation. It has been nearly 8 years since Ohio’s last execution and we must ensure that executions do not resume. Tell your legislators this is not a fix to Ohio’s broken death penalty system and that it is time to repeal Ohio’s death penalty, not expand it.
