DACA+/DAPA = blocked. IJPC Statement.
Today we are saddened and disappointed to hear of the 4-4 tie vote from the Supreme Court of the United States for Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) and an extension of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA+) which upholds the lower court ruling blocking President Obama’s executive action on DAPA and DACA+. With this ruling, millions of undocumented immigrants and their families have had opportunities to live a better life eliminated from their dreams. DACA+ and DAPA would not have solved all the immigration issues we face and it is clear that comprehensive immigration reform is still necessary. IJPC and YES remain committed to working tirelessly for comprehensive immigration reform.
In response to today’s decision, we invite you to join with us and allies of the immigrant community tonight (6/23) for a vigil.
What: Vigil for Comprehensive Immigration Reform in response to the DACA+/DAPA Supreme Court Decision
