Stories of Survival: Bhutan – Finding Refuge in Cincinnati

June 20, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Stories of Survival is RefugeeConnect’s annual speaker series. Our 2018 series includes five different speaking engagements with refugees from five different countries telling their own stories of survival, including Somalia, Cyprus, the Former Soviet Union, Burundi, and Bhutan.

Over 80,000 Bhutanese fled Bhutan after the North declared the South a threat to the political order. Southern Bhutanese fled to India and Nepal to avoid imprisonment and torture. Since 2010, 22,000 refugees have ended up in the United States.
