15 Years Later: The Cincinnati Riots and the Future of the City

February 2, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Fifteen years ago, in response to the police shooting of Roger Owensby and Timothy Thomas, protests, social unrest and riots erupted in Over-the-Rhine. The result was a deep and comprehensive period of community reflection about the relations between the police and African American communities in Cincinnati.

Fifteen years later it is time to reflect again on how far we have come and what more we need to do as a community to ensure fair and just policing that works with communities to solve problems and addresses fundamental issues such as economic inclusion .

Join us with key leaders who were involved in shaping the Collaborative Agreement and responses from contemporary voices from the community.

The event, free and open to the public, will be held February 2, 2016.

Sponsored by The President’s Office at Xavier University.¬† Co-sponsored by the Ethics/Religion and Society¬† Program at Xavier, The Eigel Center for Community-Engaged Learning at Xavier, The Center for Diversity and Inclusion, at Xavier, and The Brueggeman Center for Dialogue at Xavier.
