SUMMARY:SHARE Women's Tour
DESCRIPTION:SHARE El Salvador is coordinating a US Women’s Tour featuring Tula Mejía Mejía\, a longtime partner of SHARE\, to help promote strong women’s futures\, specifically in these areas: \n\nWomen’s Gardens and Microcredit: Helping women find food sovereignty and economic stability.\nScholarships for Young Women Leaders: Educating promising leaders who can help lead their communities into the future.\nGirls’ Futures: Helping girls find empowered futures through health and gender rights training and the development of vocational skills.\nWomen’s Political Leadership: Promoting women’s active leadership and participation in politics to advance the rights of women in their municipalities and at the national level.\n\nMaría Gertrudis Mejía Mejía (Tula) is the regional coordinator of the southern region of CRIPDES\, a national organization that promotes economic and social development in El Salvador. The daughter of a community leader killed by the National Guard during the armed conflict\, she is a lifelong activist. Tula is the founder of an organization that accompanied families displaced by the armed conflict\, has served on the national board of directors of CRIPDES and its sister organization CORDES\, and worked with the city council of Ayutuxtepeque to promote citizen participation and community organizing efforts. In 2015\, she was elected to the city council of Colon in the La Libertad region of El Salvador. \nThe Cincinnati stop will be a potluck dinner at St. Dominic Church.  Suggested donation of $10. \n
