This film follows Winona LaDuke\, a long time indigenous and environmental rights activist\, through her struggle to protect native lands from the threat of oil pipelines. \nEvening Schedule: \n6:00 Introductions and event sharing \n6:30: Partial film screening \n7:15 Potluck dinner (please bring a dish to share) & conversation \n \nAbout the film: The “Prophecy of the 7th Fire” says a “black snake” will bring destruction to the earth. We will have a choice of two paths. One is scorched\, and one is green. For Winona (Ojibwe for “first daughter”)\, the “black snake” is oil trains and pipelines. When she learns that Canadian-owned Enbridge plans to route a new pipeline through her tribe’s 1855 Treaty land\, she and her community spring into action to save the sacred wild rice lakes and preserve their traditional indigenous way of life. \nSee and hear Winona LaDuke in-person at our Annual Gathering\, Resilience: Planting Seeds and Growing Movements\, on October 28th. \n

In that role\, he’s been instrumental in rebuilding YES (Youth Educating Society)\, he’s shared his and his family’s story of immigration and he’s inspired thousands across the Greater Cincinnati region. \nIn August\, José will be moving to Washington DC to be a Network Lobby Associate.
