Tens of thousands of people flee their home countries every year seeking safety from persecution, war, and violence. In the last four decades, the United States has welcomed more than 3 million refugees from all over the world. Karen Brownlee focused her research on the roughly 2,000 Somali refugees living in Northern Kentucky. What did it take to come here? What did they leave behind?
