Peace Committee Meets with Representative Chabot
The IJPC Peace Committee visits legislators on a monthly basis to express concern for a variety of peace concerns. On Wednesday, August 12, members met with Congressman Steve Chabot to advocate for alternatives to military force as a solution to conflict, and especially in support of the Iran Nuclear Agreement. Ben Urmston, SJ, urged diplomacy and the need for nonviolence in any situation. The agreement, is the best way to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and is in the best interest of the US and the international community. Congressman Chabot was open to hearing the concerns of the committee and said that he was unsure how he would vote when the issue comes to the floor in September. Call Congressman Chabot’s DC office 202.225.2216 and let him know that you want him to support the deal with Iran.
