IJPC Youth Educating Society (YES)

IJPC’s Youth Educating Society (YES) program empowers immigrant youth and allies through support and education to cultivate social and legislative change for a more inclusive and just society.

About YES:

YES is the only group of its kind in the region. Founded in 2011 and led by an advisory board of their peers, YES is a leadership program designed for high school and college-aged youth who are documented and undocumented immigrants, children from immigrant families, or friends and allies to the movement. They network to learn more about immigration issues and take an active role in the community. Members learn how to share their personal experiences with the immigration system to create a unique and powerful voice advocating for comprehensive immigration reform.

Our Work:

YES has become the go-to resource for speakers, information, and activism for young immigrants and community allies. YES leaders:

  • Stand courageously and speak out about immigration issues that affect their lives;
  • Receive leadership and storytelling training;
  • Educate the community about the broken immigration system and related issues;
  • Build strong relationships among local schools and universities to unify youth from different backgrounds; and
  • Build personal and professional relationships with others who care about immigrant rights.
