Refugees

A refugee is a person outside the country of his or her nationality, who is unable or unwilling to return to that country because of persecution or a well-founded fear of persecution based on his or her race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. Each year the President decides on how many refugees the United States will allow to enter. In recent years, the admissions goal has been lower than it ever has been. With over 25 million refugees around the world, this low threshold will leave many refugees without a safe home.
