Reservations appreciated here.  \n\nPARKING ALERT\n\n\nThe basketball game starts at 6:30\, but the Cintas Center parking lot closes to anyone without a specific game pass at 4:30. All other lots on and around campus are open\, but will fill up quickly. We recommend coming early\, maybe having an early dinner on or near campus. The best and closest lot to the Gallagher Student Center is the one behind it\, which can be entered either from Dana Ave. to University Dr. or directly from Victory Dr. There is a lot across Victory near the soccer field\, very limited parking on the circle near Bellarmine Chapel which is accessed from Cleneay Ave.\, behind Smith Business Bldg off Francis Xavier Way\, and in various other lots. Whether in our local community of Cincinnati or on the national and global political stage\, civil discourse is necessary for peacemaking and community building. For effective discourse\, listening ‒ deep listening ‒ is required. In times of fear and anxiety listening can again become an effective tool. DESCRIPTION:IJPC is offering the Engage: Exploring Nonviolent Living Study Program starting January of 2018 to anyone interested in learning\, practicing\, and experimenting with the power of creative nonviolence to transform our lives and our world. \nEngage is designed to be a small group learning process done each week for 2 to 2.5 hours. For the sake of convenience\, we will offer sessions on both Mondays from 1:00-3:00 P.M\, and Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 at the Intercommunity Justice & Peace Center. Monday sessions will begin on January 8 and Tuesday sessions on January 9. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions as much as possible\, but can do the readings independently for any missed session. For the sake of developing a learning community\, it would be best choose one of the scheduled options and stick to it. Please notify IJPC if you have a conflict in your schedule during a particular week so that we can plan accordingly. Readings will be sent to registered participants via email. The program is organized into three parts: \nPart I (Sessions 1-5) familiarizes participants with how violence and nonviolence work. \nPart II (Sessions 6-8) explores nonviolent responses to structural violence. \nPart III (Sessions 9-12) guides participants through the process of developing and carrying out nonviolent action. \nSpace is limited and we will register people on a first-come-first-served basis. For the sake of convenience\, we will offer sessions on both Mondays from 1:00-3:00 P.M\, and Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 at the Intercommunity Justice & Peace Center. Monday sessions will begin on January 8 and Tuesday sessions on January 9. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions as much as possible\, but can do the readings independently for any missed session. For the sake of developing a learning community\, it would be best choose one of the scheduled options and stick to it. Please notify IJPC if you have a conflict in your schedule during a particular week so that we can plan accordingly. Readings will be sent to registered participants via email. The program is organized into three parts: \nPart I (Sessions 1-5) familiarizes participants with how violence and nonviolence work. \nPart II (Sessions 6-8) explores nonviolent responses to structural violence. \nPart III (Sessions 9-12) guides participants through the process of developing and carrying out nonviolent action. \nSpace is limited and we will register people on a first-come-first-served basis. Following in the footsteps of the great apostles of nonviolence – Mahatma Gandhi\, Martin Luther King\, Jr.\, Dorothy Day\, Thomas Merton\, Oscar Romero and Daniel and Philip Berrigan – John Dear\, who has been arrested and imprisoned over 75 times\, crisscrosses the United States and the world tirelessly preaching the message of the nonviolent Jesus. Surprisingly enough\, this Congress term is almost done\, and we have yet seen any Greater Cincinnati area members of Congress co-sign the DREAM Act. \nYES will not stop pressuring our members of Congress until we see the DREAM Act pass. Along with our social media campaign\, YES will have a rally where we will give a midterm grade to our members of Congress for how they represent their commitment on immigration policy.
