DESCRIPTION:Panel discussion on Wednesday 10/17 at 2:00PM\, featuring Sandra Ramirez\, IJPC’s Immigration Program Organizer.\nThe exhibit itself is accessible 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM\n\nMexican author Carlos Fuentes encourages us to “Recognize yourself in he and she who are not like you and me.” This sentiment is at the heart of the exhibition: to open the archive of strangers through photographs taken by local refugees and immigrants—those that have had to leave everything behind\, including treasured family photos that connect them to their loved ones. \nThe stories of refugee and immigrant families are often boxed away and invisible to many Americans. This exhibition is an attempt to open the box and reveal that which is hidden inside. The themes and narratives\, once released in the form of pictures\, will help us to better understand their experience. The hopes\, dreams\, and desires of immigrants are not different than the rest of America–we have shared experiences. DESCRIPTION:Cincinnati has been accepted as an International City of Peace\, (which means we are committed to becoming one)! Nonviolence Alliance of Greater Cincinnati is going to kick-off our work with a Culture of Peace Walk celebration! We will start at 2:00 with a Cincinnati City of Peace Proclamation outside of the Freedom Center\, have a mini-peace skill session\, a peace-builder expo highlighting the good work already begun in the region\, go on a peace walk to Piatt Park where we’ll join in the Potluck for the People and have a meditation session before returning to the Freedom Center for a community sharing. \nShare the Facebook event with this link. \nCincinnati Peace Movement will be accepting donations of clothing and nonperishable food items at Piatt Park (corner of Garfield and Vine). You may also bring something to share at the potluck. Items can be dropped off before our event beginning at noon. \nT-shirts will be available for $10. Check out the design!

DESCRIPTION:Join IJPC and the Congregation of Divine Providence for a day of training about nonviolence. \nIn this workshop\, we’ll explore how to maintain inner peace in the midst of the chaos raging all around us\, tapping into nonvioent power as a way of life and a strategy for social change. We’ll examine structural violence and what sustains it as well as the elements of active nonviolence and its power to transform our own lives and the society we live in. \nIf you are interested in this training\, please RSVP online.
