DESCRIPTION:IJPC supports Cincinnati Action for Housing Now’s initiative for affordable housing and we need your help to get it on the November ballot. \n  \nRSVP here. \n  \nThe day will include a brief training on how to collect signatures for the ballot initiative\, and then teams of two will go to Vine St\, Findlay Market\, and City Flea in Washington Park to talk to Cininnati voters about how we can fund more affordable housing in the city. Lunch will be provided. Can’t stay the whole time? No problem – show up when you can. \n  \nThe ballot measure would restore our earned income tax to its 2020 levels in order to provide a dedicated funding stream to develop housing for the most vulnerable. While there is some promising affordable housing development happening in Cincinnati\, very few of those units will serve those living <30% of the Area Median Income (<$18\,150/person). The .3% increase will result in $40-50 million per year dedicated to those who need it most.

Auburn Presbyterian Church has permission to use an overflow parking area that is just one driveway east of the church’s lot entrance on McMillan Street. All volunteers are encouraged to park in this lot during the event. The “potluck” portion of the meal will be donations of favorite cookies\, dipping breads\, and/or other main dish offerings that represent your culture. IMPORTANT: You do not need to bring a food offering to attend. If you bring a food contribution\, please drop it off with one of the kitchen staff before entering the event. The kitchen door is on the left just before the main Social Hall entry doors. \nThis is a FREE event. We’ll meet up with other anti-human trafficking coalitions from all around the state to support the passage of Ohio Senate Bill 183 / House Bill 319: Enact Expanding Human Trafficking Justice Act. \nSB 183 and HB 319 would expand the criminal record expungement program to help more survivors of trafficking get a fresh start once they’re out of their trafficking situation. We know that trying to find a job or a safe place to live is extremely difficult when you have a criminal record. For many human trafficking survivors\, being arrested for crimes they didn’t commit is a common reality. Traffickers often force their victims to take the blame for something they did\, or force them to commit illegal acts on their behalf. \n***The registration for Day at the Statehouse is now at capacity.
